Can a concrete pavement capture your child’s attention, after all the high-tech gadgets? We think so! Our new asphalt facility is really cool, for both toddlers and older children, to ride their pedal go-karts. And the entire family can enjoy some open-air fun, when nothing else is scheduled. So we hired local artist Judit Varjas to make a magical place for us, with a superb theme.
She has debuted with an exciting installation in Tapolca already, by lake “Malom”, where she decorated the stairs leading to the lake, on 27 steps, featuring sea life, which installation has since then become emblematic. She has turned that spot into a real tourist attraction.
And now, she decided to paint large hippos for us, to create a new, exciting spot for the kids in Kolping Hotel’s park.
The artist needed 12.5 days to finish the job, using a total of 100 work hours, and 23 litres of paint, lacquer, paint rollers.... and her artwork started to come alive on the concrete pavement.
Bounce on one leg, then carefully follow the line, watch the colour markings, and whether to go left or right.
Do a circuit around the flower bed, then do some long-jump. Then start again, until you get tired. Winners can climb up to the podium. Which has no stairs, but that should be no problem for the winners.
And for sure, the artist is herself a winner, with the hundreds of kneeling, jumping up and down she had to do, a real exercise on its own, while completing her artwork.
Even the Fall weather did not hold us back, and the new facility opened on 29 October 2019, in the rain. The Hotel Director, Csaba Baldauf, and the artist herself, Judit Varjas opened the field for the visitors, with our audience holding umbrellas. But we are certain that no child will refuse putting on his/her Wellington boots and enjoy some fun even in the rain, right? Some puddle, and even better, isn’t it?
